Hello!
This is growing in my backyard. Been seeing lots of posts lately about poison hemlock. Just curious if my suspicions are correct, that this is poison hemlock? And if so, what precautions are suggested when it comes to removal? Just gloves? Thank you in advance!

Most likely hedge parsley, Torilis arvensis. If you want to be sure, take notice of the old flowers/ young fruits. Hedge parsley produces sticky burrs that are never present in poison hemlock.
Yes I believe it is unfortunately, I would suggest using gloves to remove it and don’t let any pets near it
Likely yes. We get the purple hints, the stems are smooth, the leaves are in the hemlock range.
I cant smell it, which would be my next test. Smells to me vaguely like mice. The description is subjective, but if you’re used to it, it’s distinctive.
Looks like Hemlock to me. I have lots of Queen Anne’s Lace and it has no purple streaks. Be careful.
Thank you all for your comments! I will go back out and give it another look over. I’m fairly certain the stems were smooth. I’ll look for burrs. I have a 5 yo and this is not the only plant that looks like this in my yard, though this is the first I’ve looked close enough to see purple. Thank you again all!
