There appears to be lots happening on my bottle brush and I’m wondering what to do. (Syd NSW)
Firstly they have always had a few small areas with bumpy leaves which I think might be psyllid. No big deal as they previously looked healthy.
A couple of weeks ago I noticed the bumpy leaves over much more of the plant.
Then I noticed chunks of white stuff that looks like icing as well as lots of sooty mould.
Finally I noticed little triangle shaped insects with red eyes covering the plant. They look like tiny cicadas with red eyes.
I’m wondering if I should do anything as the sooty mould and bumpy leaves are getting worse.
Are the red eyed insects feeding on the sap of the psyllid? Or are they causing the sap and sooty mould and spreading the psyllid issue?
Confused and don’t want to treat my plants if they are cicadas and only happen every few years. Confused and not sure what’s best. Any advice is appreciated.

I think the insects are a type of leaf hopper
