Hi – new to letting our yard and beds take a more natural course. Is it normal for wood sorrel to get this dark? There are other patches of lighter clover and wood sorrel, but several are this dark. The pictures don’t convey just how dark either. They look brighter in these photos!

Yes, it is normal for creeping wood sorrel to have purplish, dark red, or green-purple leaves. Are they in a lot of sunlight?
Looks like it got a bit frosted. Did you have cold overnight recently?
Nope quite unusual
the wood sorrel in my yard looks like this in the shadier areas, full sun areas its the normal green
There are several woodsorrels. This looks like creeping woodsorrel. Slender yellow woodsorrel is green. Both produce little yellow flowers. I like the creeping, it looks more interesting than the slender.

I have seen some get even more purplish than that, but I don’t think I’ve seen it get quite that dark green. It may be under some stress.
