This is a 3yr old plant. It’s well established. Never had this issue before. Every time the sun shines on it the leaves sag. It’s not even hot out. It hasn’t had too much or too little water. I have the exact plant in the same garden that isn’t having this issue. First photo is my trouble plant other one is the happy plant (they are about 6ft apart). Both get same sun/water. I’m a bit confused! Would love some ideas/thoughts. Once the sun goes down the leaves return to normal.

Edit to add:It’s salvia not sage. There is mulch around the base. I have watered it. The rocks have been there for 5yrs.

That looks like salvia I think. I would assume the black rocks are absorbing heat and roasting it. No idea what’s changed. Do you or your neighbors spray or out down pesticides and herbicides? Mosquito fogging. Something that’s making it stressed.

Are the rocks new? They absorb a ton of heat. A 3-4” layer of mulch would help the plant.

How is the soil? Is it loose and dry a few inches down?

  4. Sweet-Fields

It’s the humidity that gets them.
