Transforming your garden into an Ibiza-style beach club might seem like a brilliant idea, but it’s worth doing your homework beforehand.
Summer is nearly here, and as temperatures begin to rise, Brits are gearing up to enjoy their favourite warm-weather traditions – from one too many pints in a pub beer garden to firing up the barbecue at home.
One woman on social media who was eager to bring those summer vibes to her garden early took a rather inventive approach. Caity Baser decided to transform her outdoor space into a “beach club” inspired by Ibiza holidays, complete with an inflatable swimming pool, palm trees, and vast quantities of sand.
However, in a recent TikTok video updating her followers on the progress of her project, it emerged that Caity had unfortunately made a rather monumental blunder when placing her sand order.
She revealed that she had ordered a tonne of sand, and when it was delivered to the front of her home, she quickly realised she was nowhere near strong enough to haul the 1,000kg bag through her house and out into the garden. She was left with little choice but to fill up numerous buckets and make trip after trip.

Caity had laid a tarpaulin across her garden to shield the grass, and proceeded to empty the buckets of sand onto the blue plastic sheet, with the aim of covering it entirely. However, commenters were quick to note that the less-than-ideal positioning of the bag was not the only blunder she’d made.
Even more problematic than the extra effort she’d been forced to put in, Caity had ordered builder’s sand for her project – not the variety of sand typically found on a beach.
The sand on most beaches is known as silica sand or quartz sand, which is composed of silicon dioxide, formed when hard quartz breaks down over thousands of years of weathering and erosion. While it is found on beaches, it can also be used for golf course bunkers, aquariums, and even equestrian surfaces.
Builder’s sand, by contrast, has a lower salt content, a specific angular grain shape, and a washed consistency. It is far better suited to being used as structural mortar and concrete, as it retains water and the grains bond tightly together.
One commenter on Caity’s post wrote: “Oh Caity. Why have you got builders’ sand?”
Another added: “That’s not the same as beach sand, your garden will be a quagmire when it rains.”
A third posted: “At least you’re gonna get a full beach experience with the sea included after it rains.”
Others remarked that should there be households with outdoor cats in Caity’s neighbourhood, they would more than likely view her garden as a “large litter box” owing to all the sand.
However, in a follow-up video, Caity revealed the final outcome of her beach club transformation, filming herself seated in her inflatable pool while riding a blow-up flamingo. She had invited friends round for a beach-themed gathering, complete with cocktails, bikinis, and an abundance of seaside-inspired decorations.
While the sand may have proved somewhat unsuccessful, the beach club atmosphere was unmistakably present!
