Lived at this house a few years, but have always neglected the garden. This spring I've decided to make an effort with it. This includes making use of a dormant compost bin that was sat there full of crap. I thought I'd make use of what was there though by sifting all the rubbish out of there and using what was left (some of which is in the wheelbarrow pic).
The bin has a hollow bottom and is sat directly on the soil. Started putting material in the then-empty bin about 6 weeks ago and would like to hear any advice and feedback from you wonderful Redditors as I don't entirely know what I'm doing.
I mainly fill it with garden waste (grass clippings, weeds, small twigs), fruit & veg leftovers, and any plain brown type items that my shredder will take (clean, non glossy paper, toilet toll tubes).

Looks thirsty 💦. Needs more juicy waste or some periodic watering to break down.
Looks very green heavy. Can you source woodchips, sawdust, leaves?
Pee on it
