A POPULAR garden centre in Warrington has raised more than £34,000 for a youth charity.

Bents Garden and Home, on Warrington Road in Glazebury, collected more than £34,500 over the past year for Warrington Youth Zone through donations and fundraising events supported by customers and staff.

The funds will help the charity continue offering a wide range of activities and support services for young people in the community.

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to all our customers and colleagues whose support throughout the year has helped us raise this fantastic amount,” said Matthew Bent, managing director at Bents.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to know that the funds we’ve collected will make a real difference locally, supporting young people and providing a safe, supportive environment where they can build confidence, develop new skills and enjoy new experiences.”

A variety of fundraising activities contributed to the total, including raffles, colleague challenges, the Bents Annual Ball, Festive Wednesdays, and charity fun runs.

Representatives from Warrington Youth Zone visited the garden centre to accept the donation today, Tuesday.

“We are incredibly grateful to Bents Garden & Home, and to their customers and colleagues, for this fantastic support,” said CEO Dave McNicholl.

“Partnerships like this make a real and lasting difference, enabling us to continue providing a safe, welcoming space where young people can thrive.

“This generous donation will help us deliver vital opportunities and activities that help to build confidence, develop skills, and support the wellbeing of thousands of young people across the borough.

“We are very proud to work alongside organisations like Bents who are so committed to making a difference to the local community and the young people in it.”

Warrington Youth Zone is a purpose-built facility in the town centre that supports young people aged seven to 19, or up to 25 for those with additional needs.

The centre is open seven days a week, offering 20 different activities every night, including workshops, sports sessions, mentoring, and wellbeing support.

The charity also has upcoming fundraising events, including a five-a-side football tournament on May 29 at Rylands FC and One More Lap, a 12-hour team relay event, at Cheshire Polo Club on September 27.
