I found this growing in my mom's garden in Massachusetts. I immediately thought it was basil since I grow it every year, but never heard of it growing wild in these parts. It definitely has a strong herby smell, but it doesn't smell quite like basil. Last year when I found it was being totally consumed by some type of blight, but here it is back again this year (also unheard of for an outdoor basil plant in this area).

Looks like oregano to me.
Does it smell like oregano? Probably better described as “feral” not “wild”
I live in northern Michigan & rented a place with oregano taking over the yards on my street. You could smell it thru the whole neighborhood when people mowed their lawns!
