Hey Guys, consider myself a newer bonsai enthiusiast. Im trying to propagate a callery pear and a japanese flowering cherry that I found my my local neighbourhood. First one of the cherry failed so wondering what methods I should use and what soils would go best.

What method of propagation did you try? Given that you are asking about soil I am guessing you went for trying to root a cutting? You’ll likely see much more success with an air layer.
Best bet would be air layering, if the owner allows it. You could also do a cutting (? Translation), but it is not the right time.
Theres one problem with air layering: I dont know where you live but in my area these trees most likely would be grafted (pretty sure about the cherry). It may be difficult go force root growth on these.
Just dont grow from seeds, it takes forever and it could be a hybrid
