A few days ago, I had a very satisfying day pressure washing the patio, the tiles went from black to white. But this morning, I woke up to a murder scene.

We have mangy foxes hanging out around the house, they love sun bathing on our neighbours shed. The foxes have destroyed some part of our fences so they can go from one garden to another.

Now I kind of miss my black tiles. I probably had shit loads of blood on it without knowing but now that’s all I can see.

Is there anything I can do to keep the murderers away from those tiles? I expect a ‘no’ but I still have hope.

Oh, and I forgot, I have a spicy cat who loves chasing them away from the garden but also likes hanging out with them on their shed. This toxic relationship won’t be helping with the patio I’m afraid 🙃

Edit: my cat isn’t brave enough to kill animals. She’s an ex indoor cat wearing a bell who just sits next to a bush.

You can try the ultrasonic fox deterrents.

That’s a nice patio you have. Laid it yourself did you? You’re not fooling anyone. 😛

Way too much blood for an animal a fox would eat – this is either an injured fox or someone who has been running from someone has hidden in your garden.

This looks like a tail injury from one of the foxes. Foxes with mange often chew their tails until it bleeds then the blood flicks everywhere like this. Had a fox with this issue in my garden a few years ago. Left blood everywhere like this. Had to call out a wildlife rescue to help her.

Is there any chance you could give the foxes medication for mange? It’s fairly easy to do and charities like Fox Angels Foundation give it out for free. Mange is a horrible way for them to die and if cured it would prevent things like this from happening as the foxes would no longer be so itchy they chew themselves until they bleed. They would also likely spend less time in your garden as healthy foxes are a lot more active and roam further. Foxes with mange have little energy and tend to just stay in one small area.

Treating the foxes for mange should prevent this happening again

Cat caught a bird by the wall & the bird died slowly.

Far too much blood for most fox prey, far more likely to be an injured fox.

As others have said, cure the fox, cure the problem!

  13. So no crows in the neighborhood? /s

    (I’ll get my coat…)

We have a sparrow hawk that likes to fly pigeons into our patio window, then pulls their heads off on the patio.

Probably a pigeon, we had a blackbird once brought into the living room and it almost left as much blood as that, the curtains look like they’ve been used in a murder scene
