HI all I just had a contractor come by to give me a quote to remove a dying tree. He spotted a second dying tree that he's recommending I remove in addition to pruning two large trees that are covered in vines and leaning a bit (one is healthy, the other was hit by lightning years ago but is recovering). Does this look legit/necessary or is he just upselling me on services, or at the very least can the pruning wait for next season? The yard has full truck access and plenty of room to work/fell trees and no power lines nearby. The two trees getting pruned are around 120ft, the ones getting felled around 40ft.

Thanks in advance!

Hey, Mister, leave them trees alone!

I see no reason to touch any of the “prune and balance” trees.

    That’s an interesting one.

I could see value in fo maintenance pruning on the two trees which look to be overextended into your yard. They may be within striking distance of your house(only you could say). Reducing tip weight on the lower branches would reduce risk of failure and reduce wind sail.

As for the dead trees if they won’t hit anything when they fall leave them as habitat for animals? If you concerned for safety you could take em out but dead trees are all over forests and beneficial to the ecosystem.

I’m sure you’ll get lots of different feedback.
