Seed starting series: warm climate gardeners, when it gets warm find cooler microclimates to grow in and continue succession planting cool season crops!
Bunching onions, like bulbing onions, are a cool season crop and grow best at 50-70F. Any type of onion seeds seems to not keep well beyond a year (unlike other seeds which can keep for many years): I am succession sowing all of the remaining bunching onion seeds within the year. Additionally, I’m learning they transplant well like bulbing onion seedlings and as a cool season crop, is frost tolerant down to 28F when “teenager”.

I’m a north Texas scrappy urban cottage and food gardener, home cook, and get outside enthusiast. I grow in the sunniest part which is my front lawn, like to start in containers, but ultimately grow inground.
