I grew this from a 2 leaf prop that I got about 1.5 years ago. I know this type of begonia almost always needs to be staked but I’m wondering if I can help it stay upright more by chopping propagating and then replanting with multiple stems. I see other people begonias having multiple shoots coming out of the ground but mine is big with only one trunk with tons of branches coming out of it. Would this help the begonia at all?
See picture; thinking of cutting at the red lines propagating and then replanting with multiple leaders
Other options? Possible to plant the whole think 6 inches deeper so all the branches have a base

I’ve had a few cane begonias that I chopped because they were getting too tall, and it did help thicken the stems overall. I no longer have to support them, but the catch is that the new growth will kind of come off to the side of the node and make an awkward little joint. You can kind of disguise that by cutting as close to the soil as you can (be sure to leave a node for growth) and then burying the excess once the new growth happens.
And you can plant all of the branches you cut off to get that look you’re after. They should root very easily in soil or in water.
