BEND, Ore. — Worthy Garden Club has opened its second community seed library in Bend. The new location is at Pomegranate Home and Garden on Bend River Mall Drive near Sun Mountain Fun Center.

The free seed library is entirely donation driven. People can pick up seeds and leave some from their own garden.

“It works a lot like those little free book libraries on the side of the road a lot of people have. So very similar to that. It’s somewhere where people can donate and take some seeds, share some seeds with their neighbors, maybe some cool varieties they’ve developed on their own. All Central Oregon seeds that do well in this climate,” Worth Garden Club executive director Lisa Sanco said.

“People come here often to find gifts but also to find special things for themselves. Somebody being able to pick up a packet of seeds while also grabbing a new set of garden tools, it’s such a great fit,” Pomegranate owner Marti Fraley said.

Those donating seeds are asked to clearly label them in a packet or jar.

The original community seed library is at Franklin’s Corner Community Garden.
