It grew pretty quickly and I just want to make sure it’s safe for me to get rid of. I’m in California if that helps!

    A weed is a plant in a place you don’t want it. Given that you’re asking if you can get rid of it, I’d say the answer is yes, it’s a weed

    The waxy leaves are interesting, makes me think of magnolia leaves.

    I’m gonna agree with the consensus that this is a magnolia and you should remove it ASAP because the roots of these things will destroy your foundation

    Maybe some type of holly? Are the leaves stiff with little spiky tips?

    Any unwanted plant that you didn’t plant is a weed, even that magnolia.
