Lived in this house a couple years, and recently scalped the lawn with a new mower. Afterwards, I discovered a small piece of concrete next to our steps. After some excavating, I have discovered a single cement slap of large triangles (lots of gravel on top), along with a couple random steps next to the actual steps.
Was this intentionally buried to prevent soil erosion or something? Trying to figure out if I just took apart the previous owners work.

I think it used to be a small retaining wall that was pushed over and eventually covered with eroding soil
Probably the mayans
Possibly an old patio? Super interesting though
I’m no help but I love finding stuff like that.
looks like it was stairs at one point
Going with the final resting place for Jimmy Hoffa on this one.
Dawg it’s inline with the rest of the leaning retaining wall in the background and backfilled with gravel for drainage. It used to be a retaining wall. Same with the stepped portion next to the stairs, reference the other retaining wall running up the hill in the background.
I won’t rest until it is completely excavated.
Drainage tile?

It’s an ancient pyramid
