Hey y’all! In the fall, I cleared and prepared this area to plant this possumhaw tree.
Come spring, this bonus lantana popped up! I’m letting him do his thing, but they’re starting to grow into each other.
Any thoughts are much appreciated!

Find out what variety(?) this is. If nonnative and you like it, move it to a container.
Anecdotally: A previous owner of my place planted nonnative lantana, and it’s spreading. Huge PITA to get rid of (and the leaves smell awful.)
Understand that having lantana is a forever choice. You really don’t want it that close to something else it will compete with for water. You may already not be able to pull it out completely but definitely try before things really dry out.
They are pretty indestructible so you should be able to put it somewhere else. May look rough for a bit but it will bounce back. In case you can kill it, easy plany to propagate through cuttings if you want to take some before yoinking.
They will be just fine together. I’d leave them alone.
