I ignored my husband’s design advice… and somehow turned that into doing 100% of the labor 😅
I’m turning 40 next week, so entering my granny garden era felt right—but this project quickly turned into way more than I expected. What started as leftover gravel from a fire pit project became a full backyard transformation… with a little marital negotiation along the way.
We had VERY different visions for this space.
So I made a deal: if I could do it my way, I’d do all the work.
At the time? Felt like a win.
Now? My lower back has thoughts.

👉 Part 2 is where it actually starts to come together and look beautiful—don’t miss it!

❤❤ part 2?
I think you all should’ve met in the middle. You totally alienated him from the project. You have all the ownership.
Men love to help! And really enjoy the compliments that you would have given him. You missed out, honey.
i think husbands looked better … this looks kind of messy/sloppy
Dont listen to the negative comments. You're doing a great job!
Compromise is KEY in gardening. It's going to look beautiful but GOOD LUCK with the weeds ❤
Ignoring your partner is not good. Next time, meet in the middle. This is his home too 🙂
Of course you did

Not to discourage you, but I did the weed barrier method and it's a nightmare a year later, the weeds are coming up and it's so hard to clean up! And I don't want to use herbicides to kill them, so I feel stuck!
Wifes vision is hands down the best one ❤
Your husband obviously loves cutting grass or just doesn't do it himself. You made the right choice.
