I hated tomatoes.

I grew up on an acreage and ate everything but them. I have no idea what my mom grew, I just know they tasted terrible. That is… until I had tomatoes from my partners grandma's house in Bulgaria. They peeled them, put a bit of salt and olive oil.. oh my god. They were so creamy. The inside was so meaty, swirled like a van gogh painting with no perceptible seed gel. As far as I know, they grew these tomatoes and saved the seeds year after year; and his grandma is 95.

That started my love affair with tomatoes.

I'm happy to announce we found some saved seeds after many years, and I've somehow managed to sprout them after a ridiculously long time. I'll report back once they produce fruit

I grew some ten year old seeds this year, planted three and they all came up. Tomato seeds are bomb proof.

I love that! What a wonderful story. I hope they produce great and you are able to save a lot of seeds. If you’re growing any other type of tomato make sure to use blossom bags to keep them true to seed.

Craig LeHoullier, the Tomato Man, talks about giving old seeds a try. Certain vegetables don’t save well beyond a few years. This is great! I’m picky about my tomatoes, too.
