My whole day is ruined. They ate everything, even the roses. They keep getting out, and eating every flower in the neighborhood around them. The photo with the flowers is from last year, this year was so much better. I didn’t even get to see my new Peony and all my dahlias are gone by the roots. It’s like 15 of them Eating everything in sight.

It’s a bummer, but rest assured next year will be even better.

Trials and travails of gardening..if it happens often, talk with the goats’ owners..If goats are getting onto neighboring properties and eating landscaping or gardens, that falls under property damage and livestock containment problem. Check your local ordinances.

I suggest approaching the owners and find out what they’re doing to a) fix how they’re getting out so it stops and b) making reparations to those whose gardens/yards are being devastated by their goats continual escape. This is not okay as a repeated issue and I’m so sorry they’ve taken your excitement for this year’s blooms.

I know some good goat recipes…

  5. Hopefully you get free lifetime goat’s milk!

If they keep getting out it’s time to get authorities involved. Repeated calls will hopefully get them in enough to trouble to force them to put a better fence in.

Goat Vidaloo my favorites, and BBQ goat sandwiches .

You do have a very nice looking garden.

I’m so angry for you!! You should give the neighbor an invoice for your dahlias at least- they’re expensive!

  10. I would be asking for goat milk in exchange.

Next time you see them, call animal control

RIP your summer garden- props on you for not going ballistic at them because I know I would really want to!

If it’s on your property, there are permanent solutions to this

Plants are bricking expensive nowadays! He needs to pay up! Also he needs to compensate for the emotional damage.

  16. LilBlueOnk

Send them a bill for damages, and mention that you’ll accept fresh meat as a partial payment. Or they can pay to have their property fixed. One solution is cheaper than the rest and they’ll do that first.

im crying for you! all that work gone

I would file a police report then go to your homeowners insurance. That’s property damage and he needs to stop playing like this doesn’t have legal consequences.

I would have a very frank conversation and ask for money if it was me. This isn’t some spot in the grass you just throw seed on and call it a day.

Sinto muito pelo ocorrido, nem é meu jardim já estou muito chateada pelas plantinhas…..

I feel you. I had an amazing blackberry and strawberry garden that was in its second year and had sooooo many berries almost ripe. Then my goats got in (because my Kunekune pig body-slammed the gate). Devastated.

I love animals but it’s 💯 the neighbors fault for not having a proper pen setup for them before he got them. Give him one final not he fixes the problem he created or your calling animal control because of the damage they’ve done to your property.

UGH OP IM SO SORRY 🙁 This is devastating. One of the saddest posts I’ve seen on here since that poor person had all their heirloom irises mowed and destroyed. I have a hellish enough time dealing with my neighborhood outdoor cats using my garden beds as litter boxes, this is just horrific

I have been told that goats are ‘therapeutic’… this is one more check in the column of ‘no, they really really aren’t…’

My SIL got two goats for a whole other thing. Goats got in the field next to the house. She has a cow emergency, so she goes to help with that. Gets back 2 hours later or so. Goats ate every single flower, plant, vine and even made sure to get all her pots too. She was sad. And the goats ended up going to new homes a few months later.

She would do the mockingjay salute to you. . .and goat is delicious. I support whatever decision you make with this information.

Goat meat for dinner. Never tried it, in this instance I would.

  27. MaidoftheBrins

I would be so angry! We wait all winter for this … it looks like it was going to be beautiful. 💔

    Oh no!

I have goats. I know what they can do. And they always start with the tender new growth.
