You can make holes in cups of porcelain if you use a hammer and nail submerge in water (watch a video on yt), I think that could it work if it’s not too thick.

Diamond tipped drill bits work really well. Submerge the pot in water then drill. I would use a 1/2” bit and drill 5 holes in this pot.

Why not just use a cheap pot as an insert? I do it with my decorative ones without drainage and it works fine.

I think this pot is probably a porous material coated in a glassy glaze. Even if you could drill into it without shattering it, I think the cut surface wouldn’t be waterproof. Moisture would seep in and eventually cause cracks to form.

Use a pot/insert. That’s the easy way. You can use gravel inside the big pot to get the insert to the proper height.

Nice curved stones in the bottom, Insert a drainage pot with plant in.

Don’t! Put it in a clear plastic nursery pot (which should only be 1-2” bigger than the rootball. Then, put the plastic pot and plant in this decorative one!

Your jade plant doesn’t need that much soil depth anyway.
Like others have said, use a drop in pot. Pull the plant out to water it and then drop it back in the deco pot.
I’m in the industry and sell literally tens of millions of dollars of deco pots with a drop in insert just like this every year.

I use a masonry bit and have successfully on this type of pot SOMETIMES – take your time, start small and slowly work your way up, and if it really doesn’t want a hole in it, don’t force it or it’ll crack

For some reason where i live i absolutely cannot find pots with holes unless they’re the terracotta or giant outdoor pots. Someone on here said she chisels away with a nail a very small pot on a pot she wants a hole in to kinda thin the area and then hits a nail through it and she hasn’t broken the pots she said. She sent me pics but this was several months ago. Haven’t tried it yet but might try it on a pot i don’t care about this weekend. But i do use the plastic pots they come in instead now and just save them so i have various sizes for repotting and deco pots.

I got a ceramic drill bit made by Milwaukee that I used to drill holes in my planters. Worked a treat!
