I am a handyman and have been asked to remove this tree fern from a rental property.
I pushed back a little and recommended they leave it alone as they are pretty and take ages to grow, but apparently it is causing problems with the neighbour and they want it gone.
I've done a little research and found that there are two main types of tree fern, one of which the top can potentially be replanted to grow again, but the other type can't. I also read that they can be quite difficult to dig out.
Can anyone tell from the photos which type this is? If it's possible to cut off and regrow the top part I will take it home and try to keep it alive…
It is located in Sydney NSW

Gave it a go in my plant ID tool it suggested Dicsonia Antarctica. No idea if you can grow a body from the head.
Looks like a wee baby version of my New Zealand Giant
Cyathea cooperi
Probably Cyathea cooperi or something similar.
