I have so many seedlings I'm dying to plant out. But here in CO I don't dare until after Mother's Day. My tomatoes are too big and I'll have to pot them up. Again!
😢 Twin Cities, MN is currently under a freeze warning right now. Glad I didn't put flower transplants & pot of radish on my daughter's patio.
I'm in zone 6, and I live in west central Ohio. Right now, we are looking at possibly the coldest May on record. I did not want to know that. It has me concerned about whether my crops will mature. I have potatoes in grow bags up against the south side of my house, and they are doing well. I have a "salad garden" in one raised bed. I have peas in another raised bed. We are expecting frosts for the next 3 mornings. I have my lettuces, etc., covered with a frost blanket. I'm also concerned about all the perennials and trees that have bloomed far in advance of what is normal. It's just really strange. I want to plant corn, green beans, canellini beans (from seed I saved last year), and squash. I don't need to can tomatoes this year, so I just want a few plants, along with peppers. If it's going to be so cool, I may plant more peas!! And maybe a few cabbages!
Zone 7b, Virginia here. Our last frost date was like April 21-23. We held off, our weather is so wild right now. Record heat no rain, then cooler than normal and rain finally . It's been a weird start to growing season. We are planting tomatoes and d.s. stuff this weekend. I'm thinking about holding back another week on peppers and okra. The cool crops have been in and they are growing good now.
The past few years saw the end of frost weeks early, this year it seems right on schedule. Tonight seems to be the last chance, with temperatures getting more seasonal in the next two weeks. Wild how it can vary so much from year to year.
I established a new raised bed that is under cover during the hottest part of the day, specifically for growing lettuce. It gets morning and late afternoon/evening light, but no direct sun overhead. And since it’s covered, the lettuce doesn’t get abused by weather, etc. I’ve never grown such beautiful lettuce! And because they’re mostly shaded they put up with more heat.
I live in North College Hill Cincinnati Ohio—we are going to have temps at night in 30's coming up.
Hyped!
Hi. Living in Eastern Ky here and my Mom always waited till Memorial Day to put anything outside. She, Granny and my sister all had green thumbs. I have to work at it. Just now put my potatoes out and Im excited to have finally done it.
Zone 5b here! Some frost the past week but the next couple look hopeful 🎉 We are new homeowners and tried planting last year (way too late lol) and nothing became fruitful unsurprisingly. Excited for this year!! Hoping to plant some green beans, lettuces, tomatoes, and more. 🌱 thanks for this great video!
I can’t wait to start your course! I’ve learned a lot from your other courses.
Chicago here just want to plant something 😅
