Bought a house this year and this tree started putting out loads of flowers. What is this?

Mimosa, highly invasive depending on the area.

Mimosa. It drops seed pods that are toxic to dogs

Traditionally, the bark, flowers, and leaves of the mimosa tree have been used in herbal medicine to alleviate anxiety, stress, and insomnia, promoting relaxation and restful sleep. The tree is also associated with mood enhancement, helping to combat sadness and improve overall emotional well-being.

Mimosa, I make tea and tincture from the flowers and it’s delicious.

Also known as The Persian silk tree. I have one in my back yard. Never seen any seed pods.

A mimosa. Trash, invasive horrid tree. Get gone

I’ve cut several of these invasive trees down…they’re ‘soft’ so no reason to pay a pro to do it. The thing will continue to sprout after it is cut down and unless you have the stump ground professionally you’ll need a herbicide to kill it. You’ll need to follow on-line instructions or that ‘weed’ will re-sprout and grow….you must keep watch on the stump for new growth. Also, if you see ‘fern-like’ plants in your yard, pull them up by the roots because they’re baby mimosas. Voice of experience from South Carolina.
