
I found this flower growing on top of a 70 or so meter cliffside. it was literally the only flower up there I saw during the entire hike. Everything else was shrubs, trees and patchy grass that was far different from what grows at the base of the cliffs. I’m sure it’s common; I just know nothing about plants, and I found it interesting the way it was growing there alone without a single companion in the entire area

Given the cliffside, I’d assume you’re somewhere in the Appalachians?
This species is native throughout the Appalachians and Great Lakes regions.
