  1. Gosh U & Stacey have been very busy. She's busy making Pasta with her new machine and yr busy sorting Food & storage. You 2 are amazing 🎉🎉

  2. I'm trialling clip top jars from Kmart – 3l $6.50, 1.5l $4 mostly for lentils and rice. So far so good.
I use Dirt laundry liquid – $64.95/3l = 30cents/load. I buy it in the refill option and return the packaging in prepaid satchels that they supply. Aussie company, have not bought any other laundry liquid (or powders) in 10 years. I use white vinegar as a fabric softener when my preferred one is not on special at half price.

  3. Great vid. Good tipabout storing & reusing jars etc.. were gonna have to practise reducing waste if the rubbish pick up can be impacted

  4. I have purchased a few.different grains inc wheat berries, kamut and spelt in 10 and 20kgs lots in the last month from Sovereign Foods in Queensland. Im Sydney based but delivery was less than a week.
I have sprouted and dehydrated a few kilos of each for long term higher nutrition storage whilst always thinking about resources needed for preparation to eat.
Ive done the same with rice, larger beans and peas for very low cook times and resources down the track.
Very bit counts while everything still appears to be fine and dandy.
Excellent information tonight ❤ Thank you

  5. I only purchased my pressure canner a few months ago n yesterday i had a Ball Mason jar break about an inch up from the bottom. Only one of the 8 jars in the Presto canner broke n i used the usual heat temperature that i use for canning. So even the most expensive brand breaks. Three of the jars were the cheaper Aussie Mason jars n they were fine.

  6. I don't know how to message you directly- pvc pipe etc is our jam, maybe we can help you out with what you're needing 😊

  7. Some great hints thank you. One thing i can offer as a saving/make your own is pectin. Boil up any quantity of unripe apples ,windfalls will work.strain and waterbath the juice-it is pure pectin.can be dehydrated if you want powdered. Today i pressure canned 5 kg of caramelised onions, pickled ten jars and chopped another 5kg for freezer-still 5 of the 20kg to go-but they can wait.

  8. I would like to see a recipe book flip through. That way, I can pause at any time for the recipes that I'm personally interested in.

  9. I had had success getting large food grade buckets from cafes and restaurants … they come filled with food and they throw them out! They have really good lids. So they are free! I have collected Agee jars from op shops for years and Fowlers jars. Moccona jars also are good and you can get them free if you know someone who drinks it. I love glass best.

  10. Wow jars are expensive in Australia. In the States a case of 12 pint jars range from 13 to 14 dollars, quart a case is 16 to 17 dollars and 1/2 gallon 6 for 14.00 dollars. Regarding bucket here the States if you go to the bakery and ask they will give you their empty bucket sometimes free or a couple bucks you just have to clean them. In place of plastic wrap I use bees wax wraps it's pieces of cut up fabric dipped in bees wax. You can use them to cover bowls wrap up sandwiches

  11. Enjoyed seeing the gardens!

I found the masoor dahl this week at the Indian store, so I grabbed some. Have to go back now for puffed rice and dried potato 😂. Wasn't looking for them, so didn't see them. Mutton in a can? Interesting! Luckily the shop is only a few minutes away.

Oh, I also found the fava beans when we were away on holiday, so I will be making the Egyptian falafels soon.

Lillypilly jam and tamarillo hot sauce have been my big preserving jobs this week. All done and delicious.

  12. Sería bueno que YouTube nos diera la posibilidad de poder escuchar la pista de audio en español.
De todos modos, Amanda, voy a verte más tarde con subtítulos.
    Me gustan mucho tus vídeos

  13. Great informative vid. Thank you. I would love your recipes for all your dry mixes. Iam new to all this and am thirsty for information. Your channel is the best i have found

  14. Hey Amanda – I’ve placed an order from goodlife for jars – it was recommended by Stacey (farmer’s wife homestead)- they weren’t too bad on price – so I’m looking forward to having a look at those. The other thing I’m stocking up on is lids for canning – I like the
Forjars brand. I was also thinking of going over to IKEA seeing what they have in large glass storage jars.

I love that you are in the same part of the world as me – which makes your content very relevant and translatable. ❤ thanks from one Amanda to another!

  15. White vinegar makes a really great fabric softener. You can add a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil if you like a fresh smell. It's cheap and has a lower chemical profile for sensitive skin and the environment.

  16. I have been lucky enough to find 200+ preserving jars at op shops over the last 2 years. The price can vary but the older ones are much better quality than the new ones that are available in New Zealand. Any with small chips on the rim go into the short term pantry.

  17. Looking good 👍 You'll get a tomato routine. I was taught to prune all branches under the lowest flower and mine love, love, love it. But I have Shade cloth since I'm in AZ and can't have the leaves be a thick canopy since I have look for horn worms constantly. Love the boots.

  18. For your Dawn detergent, I'm not great at maths, but I calculated you spent $6.73 a litre. I get detergent from Coles – Earth Choice Dishwashing Liquid – and it currently costs $2.55 a litre. It's septic safe and gentle, and it works really well. I don't just use it for dishwashing. I put it in refillable dispensers for hand soap, and I use it for general household cleaning as well – in a refillable spray bottle, or add it to a bucket of water. I even use it to clean the toilets. The only thing it's not great on is glass.

  19. You are a beautiful gem with your valuable wisdom & share it freely. God Bless you & your family 🥰

  20. Im curious to know if you reuse your brown sealable Mylar type paper bags? If so, how do you store them between uses? Great video btw

  21. Not exactly food related but thinking outside the box hubby and I put new sets of tyres on two of our cars which were both getting very close to needing replacing. As soon as “the war” looked like disrupting supply chains and price we did this because we were concerned about availability and price. Something worth thinking about, and I’m super glad we did!

  22. Thanks Amanda for the heads up on Aussie Mushrooms having the 1.9l jars as it’s been difficult to find the larger jars lately, just placed an order and the price included free shipping. Not cheap $299 for 24 jars. PS we must live close as I also shop at Golden Circle Capalaba and I just did another stock up today. Great information you provide on your channel so thank you.

  23. You mentioned the Kegland buckets, they also do their own brand of canning jars, can’t speak to quality or price, I just know they had them. Thanks Amanda
