Shit I’d buy it and advertise aeration services for 50 bucks/yard on your street. Limit it to 5 houses and you essentially got the machine for free! And if you no longer need it, sell it again this season and recoup your money. Your yard got aerated and you turned a profit.

Wonder what it looks like under that cover

does that type have enough weight to punch into the ground and pull a decent plug?

Yeah that’s about what they go for used. Briggs and Stratton motor.

    It’s a good machine.

How much storage do you have? For something that only gets used maybe once a year, I just rent. But I guess if I had a spot out of the way I could put it for the other 364 days, I would at least consider it.

How many sf are you aerating? Not familiar with that machine but it looks light and small.

If it pulls 3” plugs and you have like 6k max it’a good deal.

This is NOT an aerator. It’s a power rake. Totally different tool with different results.

Well here’s my math… It costs me $50 to rent for 2 hours. If you aerate once a year for 5 years, you got your return on investment. If you rent it out, you’ll make your money back faster. Thanks for coming to my TED talk!

It’s not necessarily a good deal but it’s a fair asking price.

Im considering this one myself if it’s the one out in Mankato Mn. if you buy it and want to sell it, I’d gladly buy it after you got your use!

Tbh for that price point and the condition of the deck, it’s actually a pretty solid deal if the engine still sounds smooth. Real talk, those older Toro models are absolute tanks and usually just need a fresh spark plug or a quick carb cleaning to run like new again. I’d definitely check the underside for any major rust or cracks before you hand over the cash though haha. If it’s clean, you’re basically getting a commercial-grade cut for a fraction of the cost of a new big-box store mower fr.

I don’t have a ton of storage so here’s what I do with equipment that I only use every few years.

    Buy it used, say 250.

    Use it

    Relist it for 250.

The value didn’t really go down from a single use and there will be someone else willing to snap it up for the same price.

Works pretty well for me but your milage may vary.

Not me trying to swipe on the photo to see the next one.

    Aeration is like free money.

You literally go and cosmetically destroy someone’s lawn and they happily pay you to do so.

Jokes aside, yes that’s a good deal.

Looks like a great price. I’d focus on what the long term storing options are. If you have the space to store and fairly good with long term storage maintenance then it’s a no brainer, grab it. If you’re unaware of the issues that arise from not running a unit over long periods of time maybe opt for the rental option for that once a year or once every other year practice.
