This is my first philodendron, I got him last year from a big box store, he was in horrible shape. I had no idea what I was buying, but he chose me (yeah, I'm a little quirky but I swear he did, he was hidden amongst other plants with big leaves, lost and forgotten, chewed on and fading away, poor baby).
Well, spring is here in Texas and he's showing new growth, he feels happy, he has healed, but as he grows more, he's leaning. Should I put a stake or something in to assist? What do philodendrons prefer? What does this specific type of philodendron prefer? What would you do?
I know I can Google, but I have found Redditors to have better advice due to real world experience. Thanks so much in advance 🫶🏼

Needs more light. Your leaves are pretty spread out and are quite small and very dark compared to what it should look like. It’s stretching out to try and get to the brighter light.
Looks like maybe a philodendron birkin, give em a moss pole and keep it watered, allowing the roots to attach to it. This should get the philo to eventually make larger, mature leaves!
That pot is too large right now. Drop it down to a 4” pot for now.
Just growing towards the light, it’s going to be a while before it needs supoort
Mr Phil is begging for more light. I would try to find a sunnier spot or get a grow light on him so he doesn’t start to look like the one I inherited.

I should mention in regards to light, he is outside on my patio and I turn him daily. He gets some full sun as it’s not the angry Texas summer sun yet, but once that time of summer comes, he will be inside. I rotate all of my plants.
I got him last year before summer and he was quite messed up, could it be the lean is just more pronounced as he grows?
Oh, maybe winter played a part in the lean? Depression set in quite badly for me this past winter, and my apartments also installed black window screens I was not as attentive to my plants as I should have been, and I lost a plant due to it.
He’s been able to be outside for a few weeks now and has had major growth, I don’t have any before pictures though.
