  1. Thanks James, you’ve renewed my motivation to get into the garden and great tips with the soil.

  2. I'm saving money by taking some fill dirt from my neighbors old garden beds and putting it in bottom of my stuff and put my good soil in top

  3. I usually ignore your vids, even though I'm subbed. But when I'm having a rough day or politics is crazy, I can come here to just think about plants :). Thank you for not involving the madness of the world in your garden.

  4. I make my own soil now, thanks to you. The perlite is the most expensive part, next to the compost.

  5. Love your videos! When we moved into our new property 4 1/2 years ago, I started my first lead mold. Now, every spring, I have a really good amount. I’ve always used peat moss as an ingredient for my garden soil, but I’m going to replace it with the lead mold for the two raised beds I just assembled. Thoughts?

  6. Hey James big ❤ for the master Jedi Tuck… I have a question, so I have grown in coco coir(100%) for over 15yrs a different type of plant… I wanna try my chops at container gardening with my daughter, I’m going to follow your potting soil recommendations. I live in 6b, my question is, do you(as I am planning on doing)dechlorinate/dechlorimine your water and also, do you pH your water what I know 6.0-6.5 for soil however coco coir performs best 5.5-6.5 with 5.8-6.2 being sweet spots for maximum nutrient uptake. Also I’ve always had best results when watering coco coir daily to about 10% run off to not cause a build up, however with an organic fertilizer I assume you don’t do this as you don’t want to wash away the fertilizer. Please respond if you care too.

  7. Another great video! Thank you James! have a great weekend!
    ❤❤❤ For the Tuckster!

  8. Hey James, I'm experimenting with building raised beds with a lower shelf for hot bedding with manure, any experience with hot bedding to heat the soil?

  9. James, your videos are a joy every week. 🤗 Thank you! 🌱
So nice to see glimpses of Tuck too. 🥲 He is remembered as a charming part of this channel!🐕👑 🥕🥬🌈

  10. I see different heights of garden beds, what are the benefits from having a 3 foot tall raised bed compared to a 1 or 2 foot tall❓

  11. unless you use soft woods and other shrub and scrub brush, make a raised bed composting unit – using hügelkultur for composting versus gardening. compost in a raised bed, then move that black gold soil into true gardening bed use.

  12. What fertilizer is best for my cherry, lemon, and berry(gooseberry) plant? Pls. Help. Oh, and I love in San Diego, by the way.

  13. Rotten logs are great. Unless you import a termite nest or two. Or carpenter ants or wood beetles. I learned that the hard way. Those "free" logs ended up costing me over $10,000 in imported termite damage to my house and deck.

  14. I was out in the garden while it was raining today. Dirt stuck to me, but I didn't care. In the south, wet is better from rain than hot steamy humidity any day of the week. Happy gardening!

  15. What is your advice for someone who ordered raised beds but then discovered the land (that was cleared 1acre virgin forest 3 years ago) has massive colonies of subterranean termites that absolutely destroyed some cardboard placed on the ground under a temporary raised bed in a matter of weeks? How can we have raised beds without feeding termites?
