I have an apple tree that has grown in my backyard by itself. So it must be one of the store bought varieties. It is only a year or two old. It had two apples on it that I picked about a week ago. They are over ripe already. One is normal sized, and the other is pretty big.

Anyone know which variety of apple this is?

My uneducated guess would be pink lady.

Apples grown from seed are actually genetically unique and not the same as their parent. So you have something completely original and can call it what you want 😁

Many people actually say to buy grafted apples from nurseries instead of trying to grow them from seed because you have a really high likelihood of growing crabapples that aren’t so good for eating. So if its making tasty apples, congrats, you’ve hit the apple lottery!

My guess is Red Delicious. The heart shape of the cut apple is the biggest clue but the streaks down the res skin and the bumps at the bottom are also charactistic.

The red mixed with yellow green make me think it’s a Royal Gala or Fuji. But with so many apple varieties it’s hard to be certain
