Any idea on what this weed is and how to kill it? I applied some 24D and it didn’t kill it the first time. Second time, i thought i was smarter than I actually am and didn’t measure it out. I burnt the Bermuda and SOME of the weed but most of it is still there.

Also while on the topic of weed killer… are there any pet/family friendly brands? I know most say it’s safe after application has dried but still wondering if there are other options.

Common blue violet? It’s a weed/flower that stays low and produces small flowers. I don’t mind it in my lawn.

  2. Looks like creeping Charlie, very bitch weed, crazy roots system. Takes awhile for it to die. It take about a few application 2 weeks apart, outside temp must be over 70 degrees and not above 85 or it will burn your grass. Leaf is very glossy, so your mix must include a drop or 2 of dish soap, so it can stay on leaf and be absorbed.

It looks like it may be a waxy leafed weed. Here’s what I would do:

    1. Let your grass recover.

    2. Hit it again in the fall with Speedzone and a surfactant.

    3. Hit it a second time in the fall with Speedzone and a surfactant.

A combination of Speedzone and Triclopyr. Speedzone 1.5oz for every gallon + Triclopyr .75oz for every gallon. Spot spray or blanket spray. I prefer to spot spray and then blanket the areas that you are showing. Wet enough to lightly soak. Do it when it is not going to rain for 48hrs to let it soak in. Also do not mow for 2 days.

  5. Its wild violet. Triclopyr with surfacant supposedly works best

I absolutely nuked my grass this spring like an idiot. Bought some Scotts Bonus S weed & feed for southern lawns (live in NC) thinking it would help kill the clover, this same weed you have, and a few other weeds. I unfortunately went by the main name on the bag and didn’t read the fine print that it’s only for St. Augustine grass and damages fescue. Now my lawn looks like shit, dead patches everywhere and the clover and weeds seem to be thriving even more. Start all over this fall I guess.
