I was curious if anyone else has the issue of the melanochrysum poking holes in its own leaves.
AI told me that the younger plants are notorious for that, but idk if that's true.
I have a humidifier right there, and it's on a moss pole.
Tbt, prior to it being on the MP it kept aborting leaves left and right. I didn't have very high hopes.
I saw Sydney plant guy with his melanochrysum looking super incredible on a MP. I wanted that too so here we are.
The plant is definitely grabbing into the pole at almost every node now.
The latest leaf is noticeably larger than the one prior, but it too has multiple tears in it.
Seeing how the plant has already reached the top of the pole, I'm wondering if I should cut it in hopes it fills out, or just extend it and save that chore forsomwehredown the line.
What would you do?

I don’t have one of these, but with my other philos when I see a new leaf coming in I spray it with water once a day and sometimes I have to help it out of the sheath as it’s growing, but I make sure it’s very wet so I don’t snap anything and I’m super gentle. Once it’s out of the sheath, it unravels perfectly on its own. I don’t know if it would work with this beauty. I’ve heard these are real difficult to keep due to the leaf unfurling issue.
I would extend it and see how big it can get. Giant melanochrysum are amazing.
