In today’s video I’m back at my local plant nursery, Linden Nurseries in North Lincolnshire, to share my garden centre plant choices for a UK tropical style, exotic mediterranean or jungle garden. Now is the time to plant and plan new garden borders, inject some colour, layering and foliage to give an existing bed some wow factor and get ready for a summer tropical display with big leaves and bold flowers – I hope this nursery tour gives you some plant ideas and garden inspiration! From tough and hardy evergreens to flamboyant perennials, unusual shrubs and some proper rare exotics, there’s a bit of something for everybody and I hope you make time for a trip to your local garden centre or nursery for a few special little pieces this spring too!

Linden Nurseries address: Ermine Street, Appleby, Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, DN15 0BZ (next to the railway crossing between Broughton & Appleby). 2026 opening hours: 11am – 4pm. Closed Easter Sunday, open Easter Monday, closed Tuesday 7th to Friday 10th April to finish their projects then fully open every day from Saturday 11th April.

  1. Great video and a very impressive garden centre but you really need a camera steady, I’m only ten minutes and already feeling seasick. 🤢😉

  2. congratulations on the 20k! Havent been here for long but when I see a new video, I got to click it! 🌴🌵

  3. Hi George. Great video, and they have some wonderful plants. Maybe you could have a word with the owner about doing online orders and delivery. It would be an 8 hour round trip to get there from London.

  4. The offer in that plant nursery is absolutely phenomenal!
All these maples are gorgeous! (colour, shape…) and so many other beauties!
George, big up for your channel! See you soon! 💚🙋‍♂

  5. First of all congratulations on reaching 20k George 🥳
Bless Harriet on "Fire 🪰 " shes growing up fast, such a little treasure ❤ well thankyou for showing us the vast variety of plants as i struggle with my shade side of my garden. I just cannot get it right. I so want that tropical canopy feel as all i see is my fence and neighbours houses. 🌴🌱☘️🪴🌿

  6. Really enjoyed the tour George. If it wasn't 150miles south of me I'd be in here every week.
Highlights for me are the maples. Beautiful selection. A red maple was one of the first tropical plants I put in my back garden 15 years ago. Contrasts great withe bssjoo and the palms.
Loved the banana collection. Would love to try the musa variagata .
Loved the Rodgersia also. I've gotta try the brassiiopsis when I next see one. I never felt moved enough by them to part with £100 for one of them but £40 is very reasonable with the new propogation methods. Up here there's very little exotic style stuff for sale in local garden centres, understandable given the latitude 90% of my stuff I buy online.
Cheers for the tour. Really loved it

  7. Great news on 20K well deserved, you always put out great videos humorous good advice and ideas and fantastic photography. Keep up the great work! 💚🌴❤️

  8. Looks like I’ll have to pay another visit soon with all that new stuff 👌 the tree fern I bought on opening day which is last years stock is doing really well, currently putting out 19 fronds, it’s a cracker 👍👍

  9. What a cracking garden centre. I'd be there all day. They'd have to throw me out.
As it happens, my garden backs onto a railway embankment which is covered in ferns. A lot of those ferns have spread onto my borders which give me plenty of complimentary interest all for free

  10. Hi george thankyou from oz. Im just starting a tropical garden in a courtyard and i have the opposite problem to you……. TOO MUCH SUN lol but until i get a canopy going , I am struggling.
Anyway well done and thanks for your video and the other fellow is hillarious.

  11. Fantastic video and your comments are super helpful . Kudos to the nursery. Fantastic variety and choices . Brilliant. Thank you

  12. Thanks for the advice on the Schefflera George. I just bought one on mail order and wasn’t sure whether to plant it out straight away, but I’ll wait for a while.

  13. Amazing video George, 20k 🎉 well done! I only wish I was closer to Linden nursery, hope you are all getting better sleeps! 👶 xxx

  14. What a garden centre! Too far from me, but the prices are amazing compared to my nearest large garden centres in Somerset/Devon.

  15. Congrats George what a monster achievement 🌴👏👏👏 Wish that garden centre was closer looks fantastic 👌about a 5 hour round trip 😂😂😂

  16. This is one of those videos that you watch for a lovely view then later on periodically come back to for reference. Great work. I'll be dipping back in the next few months.

  17. Ah man, I'd be leaving there with a serious hole in my wallet – especially with the Japanese Maples.

Shin Deshojo is probably the most desirable cultivar for spring and autumn colour, but two of my favourites are Shishigashira and Mikawa Yatsubusa. They have a really unusual leaf shape and tight, compact growth for a maple.

  18. Thanks so much for this one George, really gave me food for thought. As, at the end of this year there will be big changes in my garden. As I'm now almost 81 years young, my Musa Basjoos will go, as they require to much winter care. My heated greenhouse will go, so no more Colocasia over wintered dry, My Ensete's will have to find a new home, and no more Canna grown from seed. Big changes ahead, so I'll be going down a different route, and this episode has really helped me.

  19. Fantastic looking nursery and amazing plants! But no website 😥 (I'm on the other side of the country) Very nice and informative video though : )

  20. Congratulations George! Not at all surprising. Your content has it all; great videography, pleasant occasional music, a lovely voice, honest and practical information and plenty of humour. What's not to love? That nursery looks awesome. I hope you get some freebies for being their ambassador! 😉 Oh lordy! that Acer tunnel… drool! Sadly my local garden centre is not a nursery and hardly sells any plants but BBQ's, garden furniture, socks, teapots, candles, and a ton of plastic animals…

  21. Another informative and entertaining video George. Thank-you, I'll definitely be referring back to this as I sort out my garden. Actually, on that subject, do you offer a planting plan service, for a fee obvs? (I'm UK based).

  22. Great video :)! Also looking forward to garden tours from other people this year! Will you be returning and or visiting new gardens?

  23. Amazing video George and congrats on the milestone 👍🏻 Been looking for inspiration into my own tropical garden and finally in the process.
I've just checked, 40mins Drive to Linden's its a must! I've made a list whist watching. Thanks for all your hard work and teachings on these beautiful varieties

  24. Congratulations on 20k Subscribers George. Well deserved, it was your garden that I saw 5 years ago and thought "I'd love that garden" and so my addiction to Tropical Gardening began. Fantastic nursery it's absolutely huge and so much choice. We visited Millbrook Garden Centre in Monmouth last week. Polytunnels of Exotics, Tropicals, and Acers, I was a kid in a sweetshop. But Linden nursery is another level. Millbrook is the only garden centre here in South Wales that deals with Tropicals. An hour and a half journey from Neath, but so worth it. Tony had an accident with a sharp Yucca spike in the face, but luckily he's ok. They are vicious plants, but yes we had to buy it 😂😂😂😂

  25. Hi George your videos are just great to help us new comers to the tropical garden . Wish you could come down and give me some advice on mine make a you tube if you like I’ve brought quite a few plants and lost them and don’t know why hey you could become the next Monty don giving advice to your followers any way keep it up mate 👍
