Bananas. ππππ Depending on type and where you live, they may not get to ripen and be edible, but the plants are gorgeous. Easy also to chop down after frost in fall because they can literally be cut with a machete or simple pruning saw. Read up and have some fun. YouTube also has many videos.

Banana. Just trim off those brown parts and they will be huge and gorgeous all summer.Β

Musa, banana π , they are very tasty, you can literally use the entire plant for food, leaves, content of the stem, the fruits ( bananas ) of course, and the roots.

Fun fact – bananas aren’t “trees”, they are a type of grass.

Thanks all for helping ID it! I’ll tidy up the dead growths but this is really cool to know we have banana plants!

It would help if you said where you’re located. In Harrisburg PA, I grow Musa Basjoo. Once established, it can get quite large with lots of sun, water and plant food. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musa_basjoo](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musa_basjoo)

My grandma has a 50+ year old banana plant in her backyard. Every winter it does off but the base in the ground grows new shoots in the spring. It should be fine where it is, just trim the dead leaves or mulch them and lay over the surrounding top soil for natural compost.
