MASSENA – Free help with cell phone use, gardening, rental housing issues, and a GED course are among the offerings at Massena Public Library in May.

The bi-monthly Memory Cafe will meet Tuesdays, May 5 and May 19, from 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Join the support and activity group for those living with memory challenges and their caregivers.Registration is appreciated.

Cell phones 101 help will be offered Tuesday, May 5, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.  Christopher Sarsfield will be in the library to help with questions about how to use your cell phone. Registration is required.

A free Seed to Supper gardening course to learn how to grow food for your household will be held Wednesdays, May 6 – May 20, from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. It is offered for beginners with limited income by Cornell Cooperative Extension of St. Lawrence County.  Mothers Day craft and card making will be offered for ages 8 and under  and ages 18 and under on Friday, May 8, any time from 3:30-4:30 p.m. All supplies will be provided. To register contact Lexi at 315-769-9914 or lmarolf@ncls.org•

A free rental housing information session will be offered Wednesday, May 13, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. The free session will guide tenants with problems with leases, landlords, or concerns about maintenance. 

“Fort Tribute – a dedication to those who served St. Lawrence County in the Civil War Years” will be a talk held Wednesday, May 13, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. .It will be presented by Scott Wilson, President of the St. Lawrence Power and Equipment Museum. 

A free clinic for tenants seeking help with housing issues, such as eviction, maintenance and leases will be held Thursday, May 14, from 10 a.m.-12:00 p.m.. Bring any relevant paperwork. It is sponsored by Volunteer Lawyers Project of CNY.

A drop in art event with Katie Schuler will be held Thursday, May 21, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Attendees will be painting individual wood rounds to contribute to a larger North Country artwork.No artistic experience is needed,open to all ages.

The Massena Rescue Squad will visit Massena Public Library’s family story time Friday, May 22, at 10 a.m.  Ms. Lexi will be reading a story to celebrate National EMS Week, followed by a tour of an ambulance. To register contact Lexi at 315-769-9914 or lmarolf@ncls.org 

“Foundations for success GED”will hold a five week course to provide students with skills needed to pass the GED and give guidance on  registering and taking the exam.  The free course will be held Mondays and Wednesdays May 27-June 29 from 1:00 p.m.-4 p.m. Registration is required.
