Craziest spider in my garden. #2

Back by popular demand. I've named her Queen Olivia since she seems to likes my Olivia Rose Austins. I checked on her today and she is still in the same spot. Enjoy the pics Redditors!

    I have Arachnophobia, this guy still creeps me out, but honestly a lot less than other spiders! I would have to say it’s definitely the “cutest” of the spiders. (I still would never have it near me though)

    Very cool. I was curious about what type it was. So, if anyone’s curious, this is what I found:

    Misumena is a genus of crab spiders, most famously represented by Misumena vatia, the goldenrod crab spider, known for its ability to change color to match flowers like goldenrod, milkweed, and daisies to ambush prey like bees and flies. These spiders are ambush predators that use camouflage and venom to capture and consume insects, and they are found in North America, Europe, and Asia.

    Looks like a Goldenrod crab spider (according to the internet). So beautiful!

    She’s beautiful! Most ladies of this spider species stick pretty close to their hunting grounds, so you should be able to continue finding her there.

    Also the fact that she’s still hunting (the posture of her 2 legs held up is to catch bug meals) means she is likely eating, and has not laid eggs yet. You could get lucky and she could stick around for another year maybe slightly longer (I love these spiders, not many others but these spiders for sure)

    Please tell me you named her after a Golden Girl. Rose is too on the nose, but you’ll have to tell us who her personality aligns with best.

    Edit: I saw you went with Olivia. Respect. Olivia Blanche? Ha!

    I grieve that’s a crab spider. Crab spiders don’t spin webs so they hide out on flowers and wait to ambush their prey. These spiders can also change their color to help these efforts.

    Love all the info other commenters have shared! I have a less flashy crab spider hanging out with my zinnias. Your Queen Olivia knows her lighting! These photos look studio-lit. Absolutely gorgeous!

    This is awesome.

    I’m finding it hard to understand the rules for posting in r/gardening. I posted a picture of a cute little mushroom that popped up and it was removed with mod telling me because it was not a plant

    A spider is clearly not a plant either. Both are related to gardening though
