I have seen other videos and found discrepancies with the before and after orchids that I have proven to be fake

Why do people do that kinda crap, anyway! Giving people hope for something that’s doomed to fail – isn’t there enough heartbreak in the world as it is?

I can understand why people believe stuff like this. It’s visually interesting and after watching it people will feel like they learned something new. People starting from no knowledge on a topic can be easily convinced.

At this point I take more of an issue with people making this content. The person who made this video knows that they’re making it up. Lying to others on the internet for likes is pathetic.

For those of us who do not understand why you cannot propagate an orchid this way can you explain why it doesn’t work?

Is propagation from nodes only an aeroid thing

Anyone else tried? I did try once but without using the wax to seal the ends. I didn’t succeed. The spike sections just shrunk up and died. I thought it was because I didn’t keep the moss moist enough, etc.

I have tried this. My success rate is under 10%. Out of 50 spike cuttings, only 3 grew leaves and roots successfully. They also grow very slowly since there is no mother plant to feed them nutrients. It will take well over 3 years for the first bloom. A keiki grown on the mother plant can bloom in one year.

I started these 2.5 years ago.
