Just potted this plant from some cuttings I was gifted but have no idea what it actually is. Someone said it may be a Wandering Dude???

Tradescantia. It’s basically one of the terrible 3 I can’t keep alive next to spider plants and snake plants.

Avoid the leaves when watering and only use distilled water. The leaves will brown after getting wet. I recommend bottom watering.

Tradescantia nanouk. Don’t get the leaves wet. Also they prop like a champ.

  5. Thats a cute Tradescantia nanouk! Theyre super easy to care for, youll love it 😍

Nanouk is the only tradescantia I can keep alive besides oyster plant, though even it refuses to thrive. It’s so pretty.

I can keep a maidenhair fern alive no problem, but I think it’s that I’m too lazy and cheap to use distilled water. Mine get crispy

I love these. Need to get another someday as mine was absolutely devoured by thrips.

    Tips)

DO NOT LET IT DRY ALL THE WAY! Unlike almost every other plant you water when the soil is dry or just about dry, you water this thing when its still damp. It does not do well when it dries.

Thrips love it. Be careful. You also can’t use soap or neem sprays on it as the leaves are delicate and just dissolve.

Keep away from any direct sun or intense light. It burns easily. Bright indirect light only!

Avoid touching the leaves. They’re delicate.

Pretty sure its toxic to pets. So don’t eat.

Give it enough indirect bright light and it grows pinker and bushier.

Additionally, trim any lanky stems and it grows back busier.

Go easy and gentle in fertilizer. Their roots are thin and delicate.

Tradescantia zebrina, I think. Mine love me … I don’t know why. I have no advice. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I’m in zone 9a, both plants are southern exposure: one outside in a pot on a shaded porch; the other inside in a south facing picture window — if any of that helps? Good luck!

  11. Tradescantia nanouk. Very easy to care for. One of my favorite plants!
