Recently due to various factors I had to remove a mountain laurel. Then with the drought and natural soil moisture I thought I killed it. Then this week it starts to bloom and these are the blooms like ones shown. It makes me have questions:
Is this really a mountain laurel?
It can’t be normal for it to bloom now can it?

This is unusual…
Mountain laurels already bloomed (one of the earlier spring bloomers) and the flower color is not its usual purple, but the leaves and old flower stem do match up with what you see on a mntn laurel. Bark looks a lil different but it also looks young & photo is a bit fuzzy. This could be one, and I’m curious what’s going on with it!
Pretty sure this is Kidneywood.
