  1. Hi Laura. You must have planted Jacob’s Ladder at some point because I planted one a few years ago based on what you planted 😅. Mine has done beautifully except it has developed powdery mildew. I did buy 1 more to plant in a different location. The blooms smell so good! Also, I thought you were planning to remove that willow?

  2. That flat rock will make a perfect bird bath and drinking station because it has that bowl shape in it.

  3. Do you replace your drip tubes every year or just when you notice there’s a problem? Do you run your drip irrigation from a well water and is it separate from your house? Is that why the water is so hard?

Btw love your garden, your family, and team.

  4. There is something about boulders that transforms an area. Great choice on those placements. Can I ask if you are going to grow on the lavender plugs to have in your high tunnel for emergencies or are you going to be giving most of those away?

  5. One more boulder, please, at Minute 22:50, in the open area where a tree is casting a narrow shadow onto open ground, one large boulder with a couple of smallish ones. This means there would be a 'swoop' of boulders, instead of only 2 boulder areas. That addition would make the boulders seem more natural in this beautiful large open area.

  6. I see a 'natural' birdbath depression in the rock at Minute 23:11. Maybe Benjamin will clean that area of the rock & keep it filled with water, to attract more birds.

  7. WHen I first saw the first rock i thougflat ht you could place one of the flat low growing evergreens you have in the south garden.

  8. It’s really an adventure seeing Laura embracing boulders in the landscape. I remember a time when she thought she wouldn’t be a fan. 😅. Now I hope that if they ever come across a horse chestnut tree or two, they’ll be just as adventurous as that to give them a chance as well.

  9. Laura, we are all living vicariously through you! I only have an acre to work with, but if I had your kind of property, I would absolutely get cows, pigs, and horses to have a nice little farm. You should also think about building a nice greenhouse out there for winter gardening. You'd even be able to plant your citrus trees directly in the ground inside of it! It would be such a great experiment for your channel to show that process.

Also, thank you so much for everything you share. You've shown all of us a wonderful way to de-stress and become closer with family members. I've learned so much from you about plants, enjoyed your many recipes, and, of course, loved seeing all the great antique shopping!

  10. Dad had right idea but would suggest someone who rents their goats for weed/grass control, hear they can mow a large area quickly 😅

  11. I take my hat off to Aaron! He did an awesome job getting and placing those boulders. I was beginning to doubt your tractor was going to hold the weight of that bigger one especially but he handled it like a pro!! The placement of the three were a good call!! Good time to get all the boulders placed before things start growing and get in your way. It's exciting to see the architectural interest it brings to your gardens. With the Dream Stream it makes it look natural to have them in and around your property. You have a good eye Laura for placement! You two make a great team❤❤

  12. Have you thought about just planting clover which rejuvenates the soil naturally‽ Low growth around the pond and chicken coup‽ Just ol world natural blessings of the soil‽

  13. Are you already harvesting strawberries? I thought i saw something red in the video of your parents garden

  14. I have Jacob’s Ladder ‘Heaven Scent’ in bloom and YES, the leaves are still dark, it is sooooo beautiful! 😍 (it is in full sun from 2 pm atm. Hope it can manage that 🙏🤞😅)

  15. Doesn't miscanthus get huge, and fast? Might end up shading those nearby perennials during this growing season, and definitely next I would think.

  16. What do you attribute the lavender loss? I’m having trouble growing lavender here. But I’m at 6500 feet. Not all plants do well here. It’s a process determining what works. But other than the altitude my conditions are nearly the exactly the same as yours

  17. How do you dispose of dead plants and trimmings. Do you guys have a big compost that you use? Id love to see.

  18. Am a daily watcher of your dramatic gardening skills. Enjoy your channel tremendously. Was wondering if it would be worthwhile for you to plant some extra lavender in the area where your onions, potatoes, and pumpkins grow so that you will always have a ready supply of replacement plants that will be the same -or approximately the same-size as the ones that are in your formal garden area. (?)

  19. The Jacob's ladder in my opinion likes a lot sunny side, then it blooms much more and it grows bigger.

  20. I remember the days when you said you would never put rocks in your garden. I love how the pond has helped you see that placing boulders in your yard actually helps. Just like a perfectly placed statue, boulders are the same. The pond has done more than just give you a gorgeous space.

  21. Can't get beautiful rocks here in Florida…we bring them back from Tennessee 😊❤great job Laura ❤

  22. I love your dad’s idea — a cow! I’ve often thought (and even said before) that a cow would be such a lovely choice instead of horses. Growing up on a small homestead like yours, our cow Susie truly became part of the family. And of course, you’d also have the bonus of fresh milk and all the wonderful things you could make with it for your cooking. 🐄🥛

  23. I like those boulders. Those are nice boulders. Hsve you ever considered planting a large area full of violas and / or pansies? I saw some in my area (8b, SW Washington) the other day – and it is quite striking.

  24. Pink Muhly Grass (Muhlenbergia capillaris), which creates cotton-candy-like pink plumes in autumn this would look stunning in your garden.

  25. Yes to cows in your pasture! They would be much less work than horses. Our neighbors used to fence in our creek and run cattle in it. I loved to see them grazing along the banks and hear their gentle moo's. I love the fact that you are placing boulders in your landscape!
