As an impulsive procrastinator this happened last night. My first string of hearts had long strings but they where so few. I didn't like the look of it but felt clueless and since also having depression I just never got into learning about the plant and how to make it look better and more happy! Well anyways I remember seeing in a reel one time that you could like coil the strings and they would root etc.

I made a false bottom in a fairly large plastic planter so I could get a wide but not too deep soil level. Made a chunky soil and coiled them up, planting the little potatoes in clockwise intervals, about a cm deep. All except laying them in circles was just intuition, so I might have screwed up 😬

I feel so bad when I neglect my plants! They are such beautiful expressions of life that lives separately from the big circle of life out there in real nature because I want to keep them for myself to admire. For that sacrifice they deserve to be given enough love to thrive and be happy.

I have no idea. I recently did the same thing with my string of hearts, so I’m hoping someone with more knowledge can give us an answer. Mine has been sitting like that for about a week. It’s not really doing anything yet, but a week is probably way too early to see any changes.

Never works for me. My strings dry up. I snip in to butterflies being careful to remember which side is up and down just cut the upside away because new shoots grow from where the existing butterfly leaves pretty much are. That way you cant pop the wrong end of the stem in to the substrate. I grow my cuttings in a disposable type tuppaware box. That way i can keep moisture in and in a month or two i have new growth to do exactly what i want with. I believe the best thing about string of hearts is having multiple props on the go throughout the year. That way you are always expanding your collection and able to share

The nodes need to be submerged. I can see a lot of them above the soil. 💚
