NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – The UNL Extension is hosting its fourth annual Master Gardener Plant Sale, giving the community a chance to shop a wide variety of plants and vegetables grown by local producers.

The event connects residents with locally grown options and serves as a hands-on learning opportunity. Organizers say it helps train volunteers and educate customers on what plant materials thrive in the region’s weather, soil conditions and growing season.

Volunteers gain experience while helping others learn how to grow successfully at home.

“This was a great way to not only train volunteers and teach correct research based Horticulture information but also being able to share it with the public and also get people to come out to our UNL Research and Extension Center to see all the different work that we do for the state of Nebraska specifically centered here in North Platte,” said David Lott, horticulture extension educator.

The plant sale will run May 13 and 14 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. each day. Proceeds support ongoing Master Gardener education efforts.
