If you like really tall prairie plants and have no space (like me) then tomato cages are your friend. By the summer, you won’t see the cage anymore, and your plants will stand up so nicely and no smother all their neighbors.
In the wild, or a bigger garden, grasses do the same thing.
How do you determine what size cage to get? I forgot the name of what I planted, but they are like large black eyed Susans and they fall over easily.
It’s their third year and right now the plant is about two feet wide and one foot high.

Oh good idea! I have a gigantic patch of goldenrod I’m letting grow wild this year and I’m a little terrified of how enormous it’s going to be. I think I’ll DIY a cage out of some of the wire fence roll I have!
