I have a miniature orchid.

I did lots of research before buying my first orchid, and I've had it for 5 days now. However, the leaves were pretty yellow when I got it (I assume sunburn due to it being in a very bright greenhouse before I bought it). I have fertilized it once (miracle-gro orchid spray), and the roots show no signs of needing water yet. Am I doing things correctly to get the leaves green again, or am I making any mistakes? Criticism is requested!

My orchid is in a west-facing egress window sill, with a cover on the outside that helps obscure the sun.

The yellow on the outside of the leaves is supposed to be there. It’s variegated. 🙂 Welcome to the addiction.

Sunburn on orchids looks really different. I’m pretty sure you have a variegated phalaenopsis, meaning the yellow stripes are natural. Your orchid leaves look fine. When the roots turn silver then you can water it. As for fertilizer, it varies. Be careful of root burn. I use a water soluble fertilizer once a week when I water my phals.
