My eggplants and peppers are dying to get outside, too!

I just zipped my tomatoes back up into the greenhouse for the night. Poor things are so confused with the wild temps!

*cries in zone 6b* patiently waiting to plant out my peppers and eggplants too 🥲

I’ve been running back and forth from the deck to my indoor plant rack with trays of peppers and tomatillos, bringing them back inside every time it’s going to drop below 50. Meanwhile the tomatoes and marigolds have been living outside huddled against the house, with a bit of a blanket on cold nights.

But now we find out it will be about 40 degrees tonight!!! Waaah. I have to bring in the tomatoes too, and have no idea where I’m going to cram everything indoors.

I’ve been doing the dance as well in 7a. The eggplants are hating life.

I’ve worn myself out enough doing this over the years that I just don’t do it til 3rd spring is over. It’s time to go outside only when it’s too hot for me to be outside. We harden off in the heat together.

  7. My tomatoes are mostly planted, potatoes, lettuce, broccoli and brussel sprouts, garlic, peas and radishes are a looking good. Will probably bring peppers and tomatoes back in for a few days tomorrow night, and then get them in the ground in 3-5+ days.

Planted all mine yesterday in 76°. They’re going to get some character with the 47° chill tonight and tomorrow.

Right there with you… hardening them off this week, but I may have to go another week in the cups.

Next year I vow to hold off on starting peppers and tomatoes because they’re always ready to go out weeks before they can.

Seems I make this vow every year.

It’s not warm enough up there yet? It’s already harvest time for me on cherry tomatoes. Big ones should be any week now.

All of my tomatoes and peppers are begging to be planted out right now but we have a cold snap coming that will keep the night time temps in the 40s. I started them when I always do despite the warm winter we had but now that I need to plant all of them outside it decided to get cool again

Nice! I just started new seeds since I killed my first set that 4 weeks old. We still have 2 weeks of cold here in NJ…

I’ve been riding the weather roller coaster too. Hopefully our seedlings hang in there until the weather cooperates. I’m worried about my tomatoes since one was looking pretty sad last week.
