Hello!
I just built my first terrarium and I'd like to get practical feedback on it.
Plants:
- Nerve Plant
- Peperomia Pixie Lime
- Peperomia Caperara
Layers:
- Drainage: Rocks (1 in)
- Boundary: Plastic Wire Mesh
- Substrate: 3 parts potting mix, 1 part perlite (1.25-1.5 in)
- Top Soil: Thin layer of potting mix just to conceal the perlite. (0.25 in)
- Habitable Area (3-4.5 in)
Lighting:
- Full spectrum circular LED light
- 100 PPFD and 5 DLI at the top of the terrarium (Measured via Photone app on my phone with paper diffuser)
I plan to add hardscape/rocks after I'm sure that the plants will be happy.
Questions:
- Did I choose appropriate plants for this size of terrarium or will they outgrow quickly?
- Is the substrate deep enough for these plants? Their roots are almost in contact with the mesh already.
- Are these plants compatible with each other? (i.e. they have similar water, humidity, lighting needs)
- Any tips for maintenance? (e.g. trimming, leaves touching glass, light adjustments, etc.)
