Hi Reddit!

Long time terrarium lover, first time making a bioactive tropical terrarium. My plan with the above tank is obviously to put more plants, along with isopods and springtails in here.

My ultimate goal is to be comfortable owning a tropical habitat, so that when I get a chameleon gecko for my 20gallon hexagon tank I will have no doubts I will do well.

I know I did something wrong here because it just feels off, but I'm not sure if that's just because of the lack of plants in here.

So far, inside of a 10 gallon tank I have leca balls and sub stratum as the drainage layer > a pool cover on top of drainage (I don't remember what it was called) > organic soil with coco fiber and some dried magnolia leaves mixed in > cork bark (might put moss on it if that's possible) and some Brachytheciaceae (i-Naturalist identified) that I sourced from outside the dorm building on campus.

Essentially, any advice on what to add and/or change would be greatly appreciated, along with any tips to care for the tank and the little critters. I want to start building my chameleon gecko tank soon and leave it for a while so I can be sure it's healthy, so if my isopods thrive in this one and can breed that would be amazing too!
