My beds have been slow beds – by accident. I don't think the pile ever gets hot because of the amount of airflow.

Before I start my new pile from the empty bin I am going to line the walls with old ply to try something else. I think I have made good compost regardless but unfortunately with no heat the weed seeds are alive and I have to pick grass etc from my plant pots.

plywood lining should help with the heat retention issue, cold composting is still good but yeah those weed seeds can be annoying in pots

I have the same issue and have been considering, but not actually follow through… if i would place a few inches deep smount of vompost on a tarp, water it and leave it in the sun until the weeds germinate.

When i think most of them have germinated, either bag it (=remove the sun), or plsce it under roof (=no more water, less sun) to kill all the weeds.

Have not tried it, but I kinda like the idea
