Hi all,

I planted a Portuguese laurel about 4 weeks ago (came as a root ball), and started noticing more and more browning on the leaves (see pics).

A few details:

  • Recently planted, root ball stock
  • Facing north-east and almost adjacent to the building, so it doesn’t get a huge amount of direct sun, therefore soil might be staying moist
  • At the same time, I’m unsure if it could actually need more water while establishing

The browning seems to be spreading and I’m not sure if I’m dealing with:

  • transplant shock
  • overwatering / poor drainage
  • underwatering
  • or something else entirely

Has anyone experienced this with Portuguese laurel? Any idea what the most likely cause is and what I should adjust?

Thanks in advance 🙏

Hopefully just some intense transplant shock
