Slime mold perfectly safe and will go away shortly

That definitely looks like slime mold, which is actually super common and mostly harmless to your plants, so you can usually just scrape it off or let it dry out in the sun without needing to worry about it.

I think it’s what you call dog vomit slime mold, or troll butter here in Norway

Dog vomit slime mold apparently healthy. Had some growing in my garden much smaller eventually died out I believe it came from wood chips.

This looks like dog vomit slime mold. I’ve had it in my garden for the first time this year. From what I’ve read it’s harmless to your plants. Just clean it off like you are here. It’s been kind of fun to watch it grow through its stages. I had it grow over some seedlings like this and I just pulled it off.

The gardening community is so funny, thank yall for making me laugh this morning 😂 sorry for using a plastic fork for those upset, I am trying to use less plastic but didn’t know if this was some crazy fungus I shouldn’t be touching with anything I use daily lol and I had one saved from takeout 🥴 dog vomit slime mold! Who knew? (a lot of yall actually so thank you!)

Next time I would leave it. It was probably doing something good.

    1. It’s a slime mold and it’s probably really embarrassed about the marigold being inside it. It’ll flake off on its own as the marigold freaks out and pushes growth, which will end fine.

    2. It’s eating the organics in the soil. It’s good for the soil. The plants live in the soil. It’s good.

    3. I’m so proud of you for being out here *not* touching random mystery shit with your bare hands. Gloves would have been cool, but like just not your fingers shows much more forethought than many.

The number of times we see people on Reddit handling and tasting random stuff they’ve found and now you’re getting it for avoiding touching it.

I love the fork, it’s both practical and comedic.

The fork absolutely cracked me up as well. Like “bro are you gonna finish that?”
